Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness. 

 "By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them and indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ."

The Anointing of the Sick is not only for those who are at the point of death. As soon as anyone begins to be in danger from sickness or old age, that is the time to receive this sacrament. If the person regains their health they can, should they become seriously ill again, receive this sacrament again. If during the same illness the person's condition becomes more serious, the sacrament may be repeated. It is proper for the sacrament to be received just prior to surgery.

La unción de los enfermos es un ritual de curación apropiado no solo para enfermedades físicas sino también mentales y espirituales.

 "Por la sagrada unción de los enfermos y la oración de los sacerdotes, toda la Iglesia encomienda a los enfermos al Señor sufriente y glorificado, para que los resucite y los salve y, de hecho, los exhorta a contribuir al bien de los Pueblo de Dios uniéndose libremente a la Pasión y muerte de Cristo ".

La Unción de los Enfermos no es solo para aquellos que están al borde de la muerte. Tan pronto como alguien comienza a estar en peligro de enfermedad o vejez, es el momento de recibir este sacramento. Si la persona recupera su salud, puede, si vuelve a enfermarse gravemente, volver a recibir este sacramento. Si durante la misma enfermedad la condición de la persona se agrava, se puede repetir la Santa Cena. Es apropiado que la Santa Cena se reciba justo antes de la cirugía.
